Safety - What the Auto Press Says
The federal government and the insurance industry have not tested the 2012 FIAT 500, but this mini car does come with a number of safety features. The FIAT has seven airbags: driver and multi-stage front-passenger advance airbags, drivers-knee air bag – a rarity – full-length side-air bags and standard seat-mounted side pelvic-thorax air bags. The FIAT 500 also has standard electronic stability control, electronic brakeforce distribution, an anti-lock brake system and a traction control system. While US organizations have not tested the FIAT 500, the European NCAP has tested the European 500. This model is different than the one built for US consumers, but scores should give you some idea of how safe this vehicle is. In crash tests the 2007 FIAT 500 (the most recent year scores are available) received five out of five stars for adult occupant protection.
